WATCH | Japan donates patrol cars to PNP

The Philippine National Police on Wednesday received 100 patrol cars from the Japanese government.

apanese Ambassador Koji Haneda was present for the turnover ceremonies in Camp Crame of the 87 Mitsibushi Montero and 13 Nissan Urvan, estimated to be worth ¥500 million.

The vehicles may be deployed to areas frequented by Japanese tourists, as suggested by the Japanese Embassy, said PNP Chief, Director General Ronald dela Rosa.
"Sabi nila 'itong lugar na ito maraming Hapon na nakatira. Lagyan niyo ng marami'....Yung suggestions are well taken properly kasi sa kanila nanggaling yan," he told reporters.
(They said 'there are a lot of Japanese living in this area, put several here'...The suggestions are well taken properly because these were from them.)

Dela Rosa said he already ordered cops not to use the vehicles for personal activities.
"Kung saan intended doon talaga ang intendend use. Huwag tanggalan ng markings. Baka ang gagawin doon, tanggalin yung markings na 'Pasay Police Station,' gagawin na lang puti. Wala nang markings para magamit ng personal," he said.
(It must be used for what it was intended for. Markings should not be removed. They might remove the markings that said, 'Pasay Police Station,' and make it all-white...or remove the markings so it may be used for personal functions.)
