It wasn't quite love at first sight for Jaycee when he met his future wife Yella for the first time.
"Ang hindi ko makalimutan doon, 'yung ano, nagpunta siya sa CR. Tapos nung pupunta siya sa restroom, habang naglalakad siya, para siyang si FPJ," he related in an interview with Nelson Canlas on "24 Oras Weekend" on Saturday.
Yella's transformation from a tomboy into a beautiful bride on her wedding day has captured the fancy of netizens. In the feature, she spoke about her unique journey to finding true love.
"Dati talaga, tibo. Ang naaalala ko, one time, kausap ko 'yung friend ko. Sabi ko, parang gusto ko nang mag-pills...'Yung all-out? Short hair na ako, so what's next?" she said.
But Yella's boyish demeanor that allowed Jaycee to be comfortable around her, saying it alowed him to be himself.
"Noong first date namin, imbes na magpa-impress ako sa kanya, mas naging totoo kami sa isa't isa noong date namin," said Jaycee.
"Kumbaga, parang walang hiya. Respect pa din, pero respect pa din sa gender preference. Kasi hindi naman natin talaga sila magju-judge," he added.
Given her unique transformation, Yella encouraged people still searching for their "forever" to stay true to who they really are.
"Just enjoy and then don't hold back. Be true to yourself kasi doon ka talaga sasaya. I mean, hindi mo kailangan mag-panggap. hindi mo kailangan mag-tago. Parang, mas free ka eh," she said.
